AGROSALON 2012 – Moscow (Russia), October 10-13, 2012

Italian manufactured machinery and equipment for use in agriculture and gardening, along with their associated components, will be the main attraction at Moscow’s Agrosalon trade fare  from the 10th to the 13th October. The biannual event, which is one of the sector’s most important, will be attended by eighteen companies that most significantly represent the Italy’s manufacturing sector, coordinated by the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency in conjunction with the sector’s trade federation, UNACOMA (National Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers). The goal is to consolidate and expand those positions already acquired, as well as offering future participants that are not yet present, the possibility of entering a market that, despite the global economic crisis, is showing clear signs of recovery.

Latest figures relating to sales of agricultural machinery within the Russia Federation show that the figures are on the increase. Although they have yet to reach the levels achieved in the period prior to the crisis they currently stand at about 70 to 75% of sales recorded in 2008. It is considered, therefore, that there are still further, significant margins for growth that are of particular interest to foreign manufacturers, thanks also to Russia’s imminent membership of the WTO, with the consequential reductions in duties of about one third and favourable credit.

In terms of quality, technology, reliability and product range the Italian agricultural machinery and equipment industry is considered one of the world’s most important, capable of responding most effectively to the needs of every type of end user from large agricultural concerns to the smallest of holdings. The companies present in Moscow manufacture: tractors; agricultural machinery such as hoeing-machines; mechanical and pneumatic seeders; gardening and weeding equipment; accessories, from membranes or piston pumps to the components for farming machinery such as foot or wheel supports; mechanical and hydraulic hoists, cylinders and jacks.

The support provided at the trade fair by the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency to companies taking part will be essential, and in addition to the company stands there will also be: a common services centre, in an area used for face-to-face meetings between local buyers and Italian entrepreneurs; and the publication of a catalogue of the firms that are part of the collective, advertising and awareness initiatives. It is also anticipated that groups of operators will be arriving from other regions of Russia and Belarus to meet the Italian manufacturers at the trade fair.

The last edition of the fair, in 2010, saw the event occupying an extremely large area of approximately forty thousand square metres, with the presence of 251 exhibitors from 21 different countries. Agrosalon was visited by some twenty-two thousand people, of which 90% were directors or technicians of sector companies, 94% coming from the Russian Federation and only 5% from the ‘far off countries’, that is to say from outside the CIS.

Starting from this premise, the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency group representation will provide opportunities for a highly specialised audience to get to familiarise themselves with the technology and innovation of the Italian made product in a part of the world that offers huge prospects for sector expansion.
