The long-awaited ContractItaliano event in Lebanon (23 October, Beirut) is being held at the elegant Four Roses Hotel in the splendid corniche of the Middle Eastern city. The business initiative has been put together by the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency as part of the Contract Project promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development in collaboration with partner associations from the sector.

The event aims to match the success of the 2011 edition, which provided an effective launching pad for Italian companies on both the Lebanese market and the entire Middle East region. Thirteen Italian companies will participate in the initiative, representing the whole contract production chain but especially furnishings, furnishing accessories, ceramics and tiles, interior staircases, lighting and engineering services. The local counterparts being targeted include 1,500 companies on the Lebanese contract market, including contractors, developers, design firms, general contractors, and involves 22 operational departments from the Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the area. Following a time-proven format, the event will feature a seminar on Italian contract excellence with talks and participation by renowned architects active in the contract groups of greatest importance to the Lebanese market (hospitality, residential, retail), and an intense programme of B2B meetings between Italian companies and local professionals.

In 2011, the continually growing Lebanese market recorded a positive GDP (+2.1%), even though it was in slowdown compared to the past. The tourism and real estate sectors, which are closely linked by strategic elements common to both ranging from hotels to restaurants, residential towers and shopping centres, reported signs of stagnation in 2011. However, the outlook shared by the developers is that there will be a resurgence in the real estate sector, which continues to be the main beneficiary of direct foreign investments in Lebanon.

After Arc Interiors, which was held from 27 to 30 September at Rancho Bernardo in California, USA, the event in Lebanon represents a valuable business opportunity for Italian contract companies.
