TEDx – Bologna (Italy), October 13, 2012

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a nonprofit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading”. It began as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, and since then TED’s mission has developed through multiple initiatives. In the annual TED Conference the leading “thinkers” and “doers” are invited to tell us about their ideas in presentations of up to 18 minutes. Their talks are made available free of charge on ted.com.

Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TED has launched a programme, called TEDx, of local events organised independently, aimed at offering individuals the opportunity to share a TED-like experience. At all TEDx events, live presentations, performances and screenings of videos from TEDTalks are combined to encourage networking and discussions in small groups. TED Conferences provide the model for the TEDx events, but the local TEDx events are organised independently.
