The sixth edition of the UK-ITALY Business Awards will celebrate the achievements of Italian companies and individuals who in the year of London 2012 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee made significant contributions to strengthening the unique partnership which exists between Italy and the UK.

The awards ceremony, organised by the British Consulate General in Milan in cooperation with Borsa Italiana – London Stock Exchange Group, is a formal opportunity to award those who have chosen the UK as a destination for their business development, working in collaboration with the government agency UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Leading Italian companies and entrepreneurs have proven to be incredibly receptive to the bold measures introduced by the British government to promote business growth. Italy continues to be synonymous with high quality investment, choosing the UK as a base for international expansion and making a remarkable contribution to Britain’s economic and cultural fabric.

Michael Fallon, Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Christopher Prentice CMG, HM Ambassador to Italy, Vic Annells, HM Consul General in Milan and Director General of UKTI Italy, Massimo Tononi, Chairman of Borsa Italiana, and Raffaele Jerusalmi, Managing Director of Borsa Italiana, will be attending the ceremony and gala dinner.

This year the Awards include the following categories: Investor of the Year, Market Entrant, Business Growth, Industrial Investment, Tech City,  Brand Recognition,  Internationalisation, Long Term Investor, Innovation in Engineering, UK-Italy Creative Industries, UK-Italy Intercultural, Career Recognition.

In order to highlight the extraordinary efforts being made by Italian business to foster knowledge- and creativity-driven enterprise, innovation has been chosen as the underlying theme for this year’s event. In this context the UK-ITALY Innovation Awards will take on particular significance, giving recognition to exceptional young Italian companies who have played an outstanding role in the advancement of their respective fields. Categories include UK-Italy Entrepreneurship, Innovation in Daylife Robotics, Space Innovation, Bright Future Ideas, UK-Italy Springboard.

During the course of the evening Accademia La Scala will be entertaining guests with a tribute to composer Giuseppe Verdi in the 200th anniversary of his birth.
