The invitation to participate in the competition of the European Patent Office for the best innovations

Within the  celebration of the 40th anniversary of the signing of the European Patent Convention (EPC), European Patent Office (EPO) is organizing a competition for the best innovation. The aim of the competition is to provide to students, members of the European Patent Organisation opportunity to search a very large international patent documentation and suggest new areas of application innovation, especially in the sectors of green technology and sustainable development.

The right to participate have students in Serbia who are older than 18 years. Participation is free of charge.

Participants are required to define a research project that has the potential for future research and development (R & D) in one of the following five areas:
1) Sustainability in food production;
2) Production and Energy Conservation for the protection of the environment;
3) Waste management, recycling and raw material production from municipal solid waste;
4) Intelligent Transport Systems and Traffic Management;
5) Smart house technologies.

Papers should include:
1. Description of technical problems;
2. Presentation of the currently available state of the art in the subject area;
3. Overall assessment of the market potential of the proposed solutions to selected technical problem.

Interested candidates should submit their resumes or CV (maximum two pages) and a brief description of the project, which should contain the title, subject, and description of the technical problems that currently exist in the selected areas of technology with an emphasis on finding a solution to the utility no later than 1 March. 2013 . marked “for EPO competition” can be sent to: Ms. Svetlana Radosavljevic, the Intellectual Property Office, the Center for Education and Information, Princess Ljubica 5, 11000 Belgrade or email: sradosavljevic@zis.gov.rs.
The winner in each of the five categories will be awarded a prize of 5,000 euros.
All contestants who submit the final paper will be awarded a one-year subscription to EPO professional patent search tool, writes / GPI.
