The italian company Funambol raises $5.75M

Funambol, a Foster City, CA- and Pavia, Italy-based developer of white-label personal cloud technology for mobile providers, has raised $5.75m in funding.

Backers include Nexit Ventures and Castile Ventures.

The company intends to use the funding, and an addditional working capital line, for major customer adoption (at multiple tier-1 mobile operators and other large service providers in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia).

Founded in 2003 by President Fabrizio Capobianco and led by Amit Chawla, CEO, Funambol provides companies in mobile, including operators, device manufacturers (OEMs), internet firms, content companies and system integrators with solutions to wirelessly secure, sync and share their digital content across mobile phones, tablets and computers via the cloud.

The core development team is based in Pavia, Italy and is led by Stefano Fornari.
