Partnership is involving different key actors forming the institutional framework for fostering innovation: national and regional ministries, technology and innovation agencies and research organisations.
It is composed of 15 partners from 11 SEE countries, covering old and new EU member states and
(potential) candidate countries, representing a majority of SEE geographical area with population of
104 mio inhabitants.

The AREA m Styria GmbH (AREA m) was founded on the basis of an inter-municipal cooperation to provide sustainable support for the economic development of the technology in eastern Upper Styria region. It is a virtual impulse centre for development and international marketing of the region based on unique core competences in technology and materials. It has long-term know-how of co-operating with organisations covering policy, administration, intermediary units, science, education and private companies. Additionally and due to topic and organisational background, AREA m is capable to work with a transnational approach and to integrate interdisciplinary partners as well.

AREA m has developed and tested concepts/models for analysing regional innovation systems (focused on core competencies and innovations), regional supply chain-analysis, target group-analysis, analysing innovations fostering and hindering factors. It has also elaborated an “innovation index”, which enables a region to measure its innovation power. All these competences and experiences will contribute to the successful implementation of the project.

Due to mentioned axperience, AREA m is lead WP3 (development of common methodology and tool for measuring technology innovation assessment scoreboard) and is included in all project activities. It arranges instructions for preparation of state-of-the-art analysis for project partners, state-of-the-art analysis of policies, strategies and existing indicators for Austria and do a revision of all prepared state-of-the-art analyses. The partner also coordinates other partners at preparation of common TIAS structure, develop the SAT and database concept (arrange instructions and translation of the SAT) and prepare instructions for workshops.

The partner benefits by gaining knowledge transfer, new international connections in SEE region, new results on innovation and enhace its work in the field of innovation.
